It’s the end of Baby Loss Awareness Week today, culminating in the International Wave of Light when people around the world light candles at 7pm in memory of babies they have lost. It’s a lovely collective thing to do and you can find out more from
The Miscarriage Association or Tommy’s.
But it’s ok if it all feels a bit too much as well. I have to admit that I’m not very good at collective remembrance – I feel a pressure to adhere to a set time and would sometimes rather remember in my own way, in my own time. If that’s also you, do know that that’s ok too. I like to comfort myself with the emerging thought that cells from all the babies we ever carried remain within us for decades afterwards, continuing to protect us as we protected them. They will truly always be a part of us.
